Welcome Message

On behalf of the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, I would like to welcome you to the 16th Eurasia Conference on Chemical Sciences 2023 (EuAsC2S-16) or Eurasia 2023. This event is to be held on 13 - 15 December 2023 under the theme of “Frontiers in Chemical Sciences for Sustainability”.

The first EuAsC2S was inaugurated in Thailand in 1988 with the aim to bring scientists from the two supercontinents, Europe and Asia and around the world together for an improvement of mutual relationships and for enhancement of scientific cooperation in the field of research and education. The establishment and the continuous success of EuAsC2S are indebted to three prominent scientists who are also permanent members of International Organizing Committee (IOC) of EuAsC2S, Professor Bernd M. Rode from Innsbruck University, Austria, Professor Ivano Bertini from University of Florence, Italy, and Professor Hitoshi Ohtaki, Ritsumeikan University, Japan.

Together with the Chemical Society of Thailand, we are very honored to have an opportunity to host EuAsC2S again in Thailand. It is anticipated that the EuAsC2S-16 would be a common ground for scientists to present new ideas, discoveries, and innovations, exchange experiences, gain insights into frontier research in chemical sciences towards sustainability. We are honored to have three world-renowned scientists as plenary speakers: Professor Jean-Marie Lehn, Nobel Laurate in Chemistry 1987 from University of Strasbourg, who was the plenary speaker of the first EuAsC2S that was held in Thailand (TBC to come in person or online). Professor John C. Warner, The Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry and Professor Paul T. Anastas, Yale University, the two distinguished professors of Chulalongkorn University in Green Chemistry and Sustainability. EuAsC2S-16 will feature 7 scientific sessions and 3 workshops showcasing various aspects of frontier research and innovation in chemical sciences. A special session is arranged to dedicate to the late Professor Bernd M. Rode who played a significant contribution to EuAsC2S. Also, we would like EuAsC2S-16 to be a place to promote collaborative arrangements in chemistry among different sectors of chemical research and education including industry, academia, and research institutes.

We would like to warmheartedly welcome scientists of all generations from various disciplines and backgrounds around the world to Bangkok, Thailand in December 2023. We hope this will be a great opportunity for every participant to enjoy the superb science, the warm friendship, as well as the hard-to-beat natures and rich cultural heritage in Thailand, the Land of Smiles.

President of Chemical Society of Thailand

Greeting

On behalf of the Chemical Society of Thailand, I would like to welcome you back to Thailand for the 16th Eurasia Conference on Chemical Sciences 2023 (EuAsC2S-16). The conference will be held during December 13 – 15, 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.

At that time, the weather will be the most wonderful. This conference is one of the long-lasting cooperation between communities of chemists in Asia and Europe. I’m also very glad that this conference was inaugurated in Bangkok, Thailand in 1988.

The EuASC2S-16 is also co-organized by the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University which has hosted the first and the third Eurasia conferences, and for this year under the theme of “Frontier in Chemical Sciences for Sustainability”.

There will be distinguished lectures from Professor Jean-Marie Lehn, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 1987 from the University of Strasbourg, France, Professor John C. Warner from the Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry, U.S.A., Professor Paul T. Anastas from Yale University, U.S.A., and renowned chemists from both Europe and Asian regions. We recently lost one of the co-founders of the Eurasia conference, Professor Bernd M. Rode, who also contributed significantly to chemical research in Thailand.
His friends, colleagues, and former students in Europe and Asia will organize a special session in memory of him. From the theme of the conference and the speakers who have already accepted our invitation, we believe the research being displayed at the conference will be the most recent and the most advanced.

Please come and share your work at the 16th Eurasia Conference on Chemical Sciences 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Professor Dr. Vudhichai Parasuk
President of Chemical Society of Thailand
